new job so far

so I got a job working on a game this summer for a professor in the game design and development program here at RIT, whose also working with the medical science department. The game is being made to help autistic kids cope with their condition by reading their stress levels and such as they play through life simulating events that have things that would trigger such effects.

My job as a 3d artist is to work alongside with the summer team (1 game programmer, 1 programmer for the device, 1 texture artist, and 1 modeler(me)) and help get this game go into its later phases of development.  So far chipping away through a long list, I made it through the hair modeling list and I created the customization avatar since the one the previous artist made had unfriendly animation topology and had an uncanny style.  The art direction I chose I hope will be appealing to our clients.

The deadlines are tight so I fleshed out 15 hair styles during a single shift of 7 hours.

The topology for the avatar however I spent a great deal of time carefully making sure the edge flow was good for animation and that the design style would be appealing to others as well as myself.

I put together a quick avatar of myself just to see how it would look.  I look forward to tomorrow for it is the last work day of the week and this full time job can be pretty exhausting along with trying to go to the gym before every shift.  I think I made some pretty good progress for the first week, 9 more weeks to go!
